McMaster University recognizes that the University and surrounding Hamilton area, including their nature spaces, are situated on traditional territories shared between the Haudenosaunee confederacy and Anishnaabe nations. These lands are protected by the Dish with One Spoon Wampum belt. The wampum uses the symbolism of a dish to represent the territory, and one spoon to represent that the people are to share the resources of the land and only take what they need.

Help Nature at McMaster to clear the site of our marsh restoration from invasive species like buckthorn, privet, multiflora rose, and alder! Register at our Eventbrite for this event (link).














Event Overview:


Nature at McMaster is putting in a marsh! First, we need to clear out shrubs of invasive species.


Event Details:


    

  • Date: Saturday, November 8th
    • 

  • Time: 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM
    • 

  • Location: Meet at the canoe compound at lot P (see image for the map, look at the top left corner for the spot marked in red and white). If you follow the gravel path to the left of the bus turn-around spot, you will walk straight to the canoe launch.
    • 



Bring/Wear:


    

  • Comfortable, closed-toe, durable shoes (mud proof if you have any)
    • 

  • Long pants and long socks
    • 

  • Ensure you wear clothing and shoes that you will not mind getting dirty
    • 

  • Water bottles
    • 

  • Sunscreen/Hat/Sunglasses
    • 

  • Bug spray
    •
